Geographically and economically stuck among of the main belligerents, nice Britain and Germany, the Netherlands used to be continuously at risk of assault from each side. In adopting a place of neutrality at first of the struggle, the Dutch took an immense gamble. The internment of roughly 50,000 overseas troops within the Netherlands, a few for nearly the whole 4 years of the struggle, supplied an enormous exhibit for the Dutch govt to illustrate its adherence to overseas legislation and its impartiality in the direction of the all the belligerents.
